It's spring. Officially. And you know what that means: flip-flop season is right around the corner! In fact, it was so warm last week, I wore flip-flops four days in a row. I also wore jeans and a fleece instead of a skirt and tank top, and temperatures have since plummeted back into the thirties...but we're getting there!
Spring's all about transition, and I feel particularly in sync with Mother Nature at the moment as we've been transitioning for weeks in preparation for a big move. Well, it wasn't really a big move, geographically speaking—our new house is a 45-minute drive from our old one—but moving's such a chore, I don't think it matters how far you go. You still have to pack. And confront the stuff you stuck in the dark recesses of the basement five years ago because you didn't want to throw it away, but you didn't know what else to do with it. And decide what you absolutely need and what you can probably live without—and then toss the latter in hopes of starting over with as clean a slate as possible.
But once the hard part's done, which it now is for us, you get to arrange the furniture. And find the perfect spot for your coffee cups. And write the first of many blog entries on your old couch in your new living room. As hard as it can to be to get to this point, settling is definitely worth transitioning. Which makes me excited for summer.
Speaking of, have you seen (500) Days of Summer? With Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel? If not, please do. And then get the soundtrack. Both are amazing!

And here's a little more about the prize, courtesy of the Egmont summer catalog:
Seventeen-year-old Vanessa Sands is afraid of everything—the dark, heights, the ocean—but her fearless older sister, Justine, has always been there to coach her through every challenge. That is, until Justine goes cliff-diving one night near the family’s vacation house in Maine, and her lifeless body washes up on shore the next day.
Though her parents hope that they’ll be able to find closure back in Boston, Vanessa can’t help feeling that her sister’s death wasn’t an accident. After discovering that Justine was keeping a lot of secrets, Vanessa returns to Winter Harbor, hoping that Justine’s boyfriend might know more. But Caleb has been missing since Justine’s death.
Soon, it’s not just Vanessa who’s afraid. All of Winter Harbor is abuzz with anxiety when another body washes ashore, and panic sets in when the small town becomes host to a string of fatal, water-related accidents in which all the victims are found, horrifically, grinning from ear to ear.
Vanessa turns to Caleb’s brother, Simon, for help, and begins to find herself drawn to him. As the pair try to understand the sudden rash of creepy drownings, Vanessa uncovers a secret that threatens her new romance—and will change her life forever.
A seductive paranormal romance full of unexpected twists, Siren is certain to make a big summer splash.
Thanks, Eleni!!
